Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 29, 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how Demo Capture ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the Demo Capture Chrome extension, related web services, and any companion applications (collectively, the "Services"). By installing or using the Chrome extension you agree to the practices outlined below.
Scope
This policy applies to the usage of our Chrome extension that enhances demo capture workflows and to any information processed through our backend APIs. It does not cover third-party websites or services that you might access through external links from the extension or our web application.
Information We Collect
We strive to limit data collection to only what is required to deliver requested functionality and to comply with Chrome Web Store policies.
- Account details: Name, work email, and organization provided when you create or authenticate an account.
- Usage data: Non-sensitive interaction events such as feature usage, extension errors, and performance telemetry that help us improve stability.
- Content you choose to capture: Screenshots, annotations, or demo artifacts explicitly created or uploaded through the extension.
- Support communications: Information you share when contacting us for assistance, including email address and message content.
- Technical data: Browser version, operating system, and extension version to ensure compatibility and diagnose issues.
How We Use Information
We process information to operate the Services, deliver requested features, and support legitimate business interests. Specifically we use data to:
- Authenticate users and maintain secure sessions.
- Capture, store, and share demos or scenarios at your direction.
- Provide customer support, troubleshoot issues, and respond to inquiries.
- Improve product performance, personalize experiences, and develop new capabilities.
- Comply with legal obligations, enforce policies, and prevent abuse or security incidents.
Chrome Extension Data Handling
The Chrome extension accesses browser tabs only when you initiate a capture or interact with Demo Capture features. We do not collect or transmit data from unrelated websites, nor do we sell personal information. Collected data is stored securely within our controlled infrastructure and is subject to the same protections described in this policy.
- We request permissions solely to enable recording, screenshotting, and integrating with your Demo Capture account.
- Sensitive categories such as financial, health, or government ID numbers are never required and should not be submitted through the extension.
- Data stored locally (for example, draft captures) remains on your device until you choose to upload or delete it.
Data Retention and Deletion
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to deliver requested services. You may delete content captured through the extension at any time from within the Demo Capture dashboard. When you close your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, unless retention is required to meet legal obligations.
Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell personal information. We may share data with trusted service providers that assist with hosting, analytics, customer support, or communication—each bound by confidentiality obligations consistent with this policy.
We may also disclose information when required by law, in response to a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Demo Capture, our users, or the public.
Security
We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encrypted communications, access controls, and regular security reviews. No system can guarantee absolute security, so we encourage users to maintain strong passwords and keep extension versions up to date.
Your Choices and Rights
- Access, update, or delete your account information within the Demo Capture dashboard.
- Revoke optional marketing communications by using unsubscribe links in our emails or adjusting preferences in your account settings.
- Uninstall the Chrome extension at any time through your browser settings. Uninstalling removes the extension but does not automatically delete content stored in your account.
- Contact us to exercise additional privacy rights available in your jurisdiction.
Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect operational or legal changes. When we make changes, we will revise the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Continued use of the Chrome extension after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
